We are always ready for the challenges of all types of injection molding parts, such as tight tolerances, thin wall, small draft angle, undercuts, complex part geometry, non-defect surface finishes, etc.
The most popular method for producing custom plastic parts, widely used in consumer products, automotive components, electronic enclosures, and more.

Liquid silicone rubber is inert, biocompatible, and perfect for durable, flexible parts, commonly found in medical devices, kitchenware, and consumer goods.

MIM offers a cost-effective solution for manufacturing small, detailed metal parts in large volumes, using less material than CNC machining.

Overmolding involves injecting a second material over a base part to create a composite. It is commonly used to enhance the part’s grip or flexibility.

Insert molding embeds metal or plastic inserts during injection, creating integrated parts that improve structural integrity and save assembly time.

Need parts fast? Get an instant quote and receive high-quality prototype parts in as little as 7 business days with 3ERP’s ultra-fast plastic injection molding service.

Injection molding is the process of injecting molten plastic or metal feedstock into a mold cavity, rapidly cooling it, then ejecting the solidified plastic part. It is the most widely used manufacturing process for plastic parts and the most affordable route to mass production.
Compared to other manufacturing methods like CNC machining or 3D printing, injection molding requires an upfront investment in tooling. However, once the mold is made, the cost per part drops significantly, especially in high-volume production. This makes injection molding a cost-effective solution for large-scale manufacturing.
Injection molding supports a wide variety of materials, including thermoplastics, thermosets, and even some metals. These materials can be easily combined with pigments and functional additives to customize both the appearance and performance of the final parts. Additionally, because the same mold is used throughout production, the process ensures high consistency and repeatability across every part.
Learn more about part design considerations in our Injection Molding Design Guide.

Our custom injection molding service typically involves the following steps:
Uploading the 3D CAD files and 2D drawings of the desired part. Our engineers will review the design for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and offer feedback to optimize it for the molding process.
The mold is crafted from steel or aluminum, ensuring precision and repeatability. After the mold is created, T1 samples are produced and shipped for your approval. Once approved, the remaining parts are manufactured.
We work with you to select the right material based on your requirements. Pigments and functional additives can be blended to achieve the desired appearance and performance.
Heat the material until it melts, then inject it under high pressure into the mold cavity. The molten plastic flows into the mold and forms the part.
The part cools and solidifies inside the mold. Once ready, ejector pins release the part, and the mold closes to begin the next cycle.
Parts may undergo trimming, surface finishing, or light assembly as needed. We inspect each part to ensure it meets your specifications.
We fabricate injection molding tooling in aluminum for rapid, low-volume prototyping, and in tool steel for mass production. All molds follow SPI classification standards, which define tooling durability and expected cycle life — from Class 105 (prototype use) to Class 101 (high-volume production).Note: Tighter tolerances
| SPI Mold Classification | Production Cycles | Material | Application |
| 101 | 1,000,000+ | Hardened tool steel (e.g., H13, S7) | Mass production (e.g., automotive, appliances) |
| 102 | 1,000,000 | Hardened steel (primary), pre-hardened steel (e.g., P20) | Consumer goods, industrial parts |
| 103 | 500,000 | Pre-hardened steel (e.g., P20); high-grade aluminum for limited use | Electronics, medical devices |
| 104 | 100,000 | Aluminum (e.g., 7075) or Carbon Steel (e.g., 1045) | Low-volume manufacturing, prototyping |
| 105 | 500 | Soft aluminum, epoxy resins, or 3D-printed polymers | Rapid prototyping, short-run production |

Injection molding in education supports hands-on learning and research by enabling the creation of prototypes, teaching tools, and functional models with accuracy and ease.

The first step in our injection molding service is to design the injection mold tool. How long this takes will depend on the complexity of your project. The usual timeline can be as short as a week and as long as a couple of months.
The plastic pellets are melted and then inserted in liquid form into the mold tool, where it cools and takes the required shape. The process allows for high precision and tight tolerances because it can be replicated exactly each time.
Injection molding can use almost any type of plastic that can also be combined together. This unmatched versatility makes injection molding so popular and suitable for some of the most demanding industries in the world. You can check out the selection of available materials and finishes our injection molding service handles on this page.
Injection molding is one of the most affordable ways to manufacture large quantities of parts, especially for bigger production runs. Even though design for manufacturing and creating the mold can take time, the process then becomes very affordable and efficient.
